A Chamber is public corporation that:
- Represents general interests
- Defends and promotes the measures necessary to boost business activities
- Is it a consultative body? For the Public Administrations it collaborates with
- It is assigned and delegated public responsibilities by the administrations in order to be able to manage public services
- It provides services of interest to business activities.
for this reason, the Cambers are:
- Representative
Because their electoral base includes all companies that are economically active in their area.
- Democratic
Because the members of all governmental bodies ((Plenary meetings, Executive and Presidential Committees) are democratically elected.
- Independent
Of public administrations and individual guild or sectorial interests equally.
- Financially self-sufficient
to be able to develop the public functions entrusted to them.
where does their income come from?

From the financial contributions of all the companies of their area by means of a legally established tax. (permanent resource of the chamber).

How does this work?
- Via a network of technicians specialised in the different areas
- Via public information and attention centres
- Via a direct computerised connexion to the other Catalonian chambers that make up the most extensive and complete network of service distribution centres in Catalonia.
- Via the permanent flow of relations and contacts with all the most important institutions and bodies worldwide involved – like the chamber itself - in promoting economic and business activities.
